The name AWANA is derived from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (2 Timothy 2:15). To produce such approved workmen, AWANA has carefully selected Bible verses to be memorized.
AWANA is a Bible-centered club for kids. Each night consists of these fun events:
• Game Time. A high-energy time to learn sportsmanship and have fun. We use the YMCA gym, which gives us plenty of room to run.
• Handbook Time. An achievement-oriented learning segment where clubbers progress through grade-appropriate handbooks, working individually and together with a leader.
• Council Time. A general session for group discussion about the Bible, followed by awards and recognition for individual handbook progress.
What makes Northview Awana different than other groups in Colorado Springs? Our Awana group is privileged to meet at the Briargate YMCA and have a large gym and other Y facilities for game time. We also have a great leader-to-clubber ratio. Most of our groups average 3 clubbers to 1 leader. Your child will have individual attention from a top-notch leader.
Awana meetings are carefully organized according to ages and school grades to provide maximum interest and activities for everyone. All groups are co-ed.
• Ages 3 - 4 – Cubbies
Preschoolers can hardly wait for their next Cubbies club meeting. At Story Time each week, preschoolers learn about God – the greatness of His love and His Word – and about His Son, Jesus Christ. Non-competitive games build excitement and reinforce Story Time lesson themes. Our Cubbies group helps you lead your child to God early so he/she will respect and trust Him for life.
• Grades K - 2 – Sparks
Sparks is divided into three years, each with a unique experience: HangGlider®, WingRunner® and SkyStormer™. Each year, Sparks clubbers explore the biographies of people of the Bible, memorize Bible verses, and complete handbook activities.
• Grades 3 - 6 – Truth and Training
T&T engages third- through sixth-graders by answering their questions about God and the Bible, guiding them through this pivotal life stage to grow in Christ's grace. Handbooks and large-group lessons deepen a child's knowledge about God and His Word and teach how to put that knowledge into action in everyday life.
